Let’s Hear It For The Artists!

Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life.

One of the issues I jumped into as soon as I joined the council were the questions of how we could elevate the work of our community artists and how can we encourage our existing tasting rooms to better benefit the public at large? Fast forward three years, and we have a new community treasure: Sonoma Art Walk.

Our inaugural Sonoma Art Walk was on Thursday, September 6. This event will happen again on the first Thursday of the next two months (October 4 and November 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.). During this art showcase event, local businesses open their spaces to display a wide assortment of art produced by Sonoma artists.

It is always inspiring to see what our community is creating.

The arts empower. The arts give a voice to the voiceless. The arts help transform American communities and, as I often say, the result can be a better child, a better town, a better nation and certainly a better world. Let’s champion our arts action heroes, emulate them and make our communities everything we want them to be.
